History

In it’s more than 160 years of dedicated service in the field of education the Roman Catholic Diocese of Coimbatore reached a milestone in 2006 when this St. Peter’s College of Education was started. A college of education is added to the number of Primary, Middle, High, Higher Secondary, Matric Schools, colleges and Teacher Training Institute administered by the Diocese.
The G.O dated 14.06.2002 requiring a B.Ed degree to teach in 6th 7th 8th classes necessitated the starting of hundreds of colleges of Education in Tamil Nadu
The Coimbatore Diocese Society founded St. Peter’s College of Education in 2006 with the intention of providing quality training programme to the future teachers who are the social engineers of Modern India.
This is a minority self-financing college for imparting training for the budding future teachers, with the motto “ASCENDE SUPERIUS” “GO HIGHER”.
The college is situated in the historic village of Karumathampatty, in the vast sprawling ground overlooking the Shrine of our Lady of Holy Rosary, Karumathampatty is a well-known Panchayat on the Coimbatore Avinashi main road.
The campus enjoys fresh air, warm sunlight, calm and quiet surrounding, conducive to the rigorous training programme of the B.Ed course. The shrine of the Mother of Holy Rosary, a Primary school, a High School and a Teacher Training Institute, functioning in this vast campus, add to the sacred atmosphere for Education and formation of the future builders of the Society. The College aims at moulding dynamic innovative and passionate teachers through academic superiority, professional competence and updated skill development.
